Opening our eyes to the varied concurrent life-yarns threading us all together enlivens us ALL! At sunset while throwing frisbee for our dogs suddenly this aurora of beauty ignited overhead. Mentally where was I located in that moment: exclusively focused on my little strings of preoccupation with my play/task with the two dogs or also attentive to wider concurrent happenings all around lacing together unexpected connections? In THIS very moment am I fully alive, open to the beauty around me, and receptive to what lies beyond my moment’s concentration and focus?
“Locating” ourselves in encounters by being attentive, focused, present, caring, curious, & mindful opens countless relationship/learning/growth possibilities. Observe conversations standing waiting in some line or in the midst of meetings. Which persons are fully focused on listening to the entire sentiment, story, or expression of another’s yarn and how many are pre-occupied with compiling a response anticipating when they will jump in to finish, complete, amplify, diminish, or tie off the thread of the expressions of others? Revealing moments can be beautiful/inspiring and they can be instructive/challenging because they are reflections of another’s humanity that are sound and valid (truths we’re all best off learning from and absorbing with comprehension). These strands of life are around us always: yarns awaiting weaving.
Some persons stand out like a shining light (an aurora with beauty and/or prophetic presence igniting). As we locate ourselves within any conversation we can listen and observe the expressions of others potentially enriching life. Together, practicing such arts, we enhance our gathered groups immeasurably. We all can be carefully attentive to the current moment’s beauty and/or soundness/validity of the strands of human experiences expressed by others. From Psalm 119:18 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things…” In THIS very moment, LIFE’s fullness, if I listen, care, observe, and appreciate with an open heart!
