5-27-21 From Above, Beyond, Within Us All
From outside of ourselves, we’re taught many intentional and unintentional lessons affecting our sense of identity. It’s dished out with good will, ill will, or merely flung out on the winds of whimsy by the force of impulse thoughtlessly. This flow of comments or gestures is from the perspective of others rooted in what they take to be our place, rank, class, worth, or potential. We ingest, absorb, yield to, uplift, discredit, value, or devalue this flow of comments and gestures. Some impressions are internalized and others are not.
The younger we are our capacity to discern what’s good, true, beautiful, and life-supportive is more limited. Gaining our sense of self is a life-long journey given our shifting life circumstances and inner skills at discerning our ever-evolving True Self. From within ourselves and from sources around us we find our trail into what delights us, rings true, and is consistent with the birthing of love and hope most deeply shaping us. On this journey we discover what we can give back to life and how we can grace others.
There is an inner dwelling enlivening us. This dwelling is our sanctuary place of replenishment. As one ancient writing shares: “within this space is the fulfillment of all our desires, both heaven and earth are with this space, both fire and air, sun and moon, lightning and stars. What is within this space should be longed for and realized.”
We are always within God’s presence. Once realized God is not beyond in the sense of being apart and out there in another place. We are within God. God’s caring intelligent hand has inscribed love and hope in the deepest place of our inner being. We indwell within this sanctuary made holy by God’s presence and the way we act with sacred regard for God’s creation and all life. As the unfolding revelation is realized that we are always within God’s presence, we may also become open to the blessing that we are in each other’s presence. The same sanctuary indwelling sacredness is at the heart and core of every other living being we encounter. Through all the layers of befuddlements, hurts, needs, anxieties, loves, impulses, reactions, responses, and blessings may this hand of God connect us and may this light shine through! This is the hope for humankind, the planet, and every community that’s seeking just, sustainable, peaceful, and loving co-existence!
Look up into the heavens within which you dwell. The dwelling of God here and now. See the hand of God. Feel it. Allow it to carry you. This our home. Look up and see the hand of God revealing the way of love and hope within you and between us all.
John 3:3 “… no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Discover this within yourself. Marvel. Be gracious. Through your comments, gestures, and presence feed others this manna. Grace others.
