Dear GCC Family,
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation is called for Sunday, January 18, after the service. A potluck lunch will precede the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is to receive the annual report, approve the 2026 budget, and elect officers and Board members.
We will also be voting on a proposed revision to the Bylaws. Article V. Section 5 allows for special meetings of the congregation (membership)
to be called “upon written request of thirty-five adult members“. The revision would change that to “20% of the membership”, which is in keeping
with the Bylaws’ required quorum for congregational meetings. The rationale for the revision is that the current wording is from 1994 when our membership
was significantly larger. Changing it to 20% of the membership allows more flexibility as our congregation grows or wanes.
Article V. Meetings
Section 5. Special Membership Meetings. Special meetings of the membership may be called by the Moderator or upon written request of
thirty-five adult members 20% of the Church membership. They must state the nature of the business to be transacted, the date, time and place,
and notice must be given from the pulpit or be listed in the Church bulletin at least seven days in advance of the meeting.
